A Movement Was Born

After 4 years of unsuccessful attempts to bring PBM reform to Mississippi through legislation, a large group of pharmacists took matters into their own hands. During the 2025 legislative session, over 180 pharmacists joined together to create a grassroots movement to fight for PBM reform and save dying independent pharmacies across MS.

HB1123 and SB2677 created routes in both The Senate and The House to bring PBM reform to MS in 2025.

Feb

SB2677 died during conference, but Speaker Jason White instructed The Senate to incorporate the language of SB2677 into the bill that he authored, HB1123.

Mar

HB1123, with the amendments to include the language from SB2677, passed through The Senate and was sent to The House. The House did NOT concur and sent the bill to conference.

In conference, there were numerous changes made to HB1123, one of which would have been detrimental to independent pharmacies. Section 13 was added to the bill and this section stated, "If any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or any part of this act is declared to be unconstitutional or void, the remaining sections shall be deemed void and unenforceable."
